Wang has experimented with an unusual propogation technique more often found in apples: he has grafted Tie Guan Yin on to Huang Jin Gui root stock, combining the jasmine and cooked green goodness of Tie Guan Yin with that osmanthus like fragrance of Huang Jin Gui. A fascinating combination of two superstar cultivars bringing us the best of both worlds. Normally teas are propogated using cuttings (clonal) or seed (landrace) so this approach is maverick.
