When Harumi Ota showed us these hand-formed bowls he told us that they were very dear to him. He explained the difficulty involved in forming uniform thinness with one’s hands. He explained that by not using the potter’s wheel, each bowl takes almost a full day of work. Ota does not make very many of these bowls as a result, but they are his favourite.
